| Evgeni Malkin was the center of attention on Monday, the early second round draft choice collecting two goals, one assist and 7.0 points, his SC Cobras team the fastest out of the Week 14 gate.SC Cobras: 7.0 Cherry Pickers: 0.0An even-steven battle of 2nd place, 7-6, teams as the Cherry Pickers of the Probert engage the Domi’s SC Cobras. Trailing their division leader by two games, the load is a bit heavier for the Pickers; the Cobras just a single step from the Domi division perch. Misconducts: 0.0 Rocky Rocks: 7.0 Unlucky from the start, Rocky Rocks, the 5th place overall team is dragging a league-worst 3-10 record to this must-must-win encounter. The Misconducts, 8-5, are sitting pretty but their Domi division lead is just one game. The Rocks are off to a fast start but they’ll play the remainder of the week shorthanded <insert more bad luck> star forward Jake Guentzel reportedly shelved for the entire week and season. Wild Ducks: 0.0 Vegas Vipers: 0.0 To the surprise of every FHL pundit, the slow-starting Vegas Vipers are in the chase for the Grimson division title, the on-fire team having won six of their last seven matches. As such, the Wild Ducks, 8-5, will have their hands full in this monster, possibly tide-turning, season-changing, two-game-swinging, Grimson division brawl. Ice Hogs: 0.0 Central Red Army: 1.0 A meeting of two teams skating in the opposite direction. The Ice Hogs, 9-4, are playing their best hockey of the season; the Probert division leader netting the most points in Week 13. Conversely, the Central Red Army, 5-8, have sunk to previously uncharted depths, the former H2H champion currently three games behind the Domi division leader. Bluliners: 0.0 Badger Bob: 0.0With the Wild Ducks banging on their first place Grimson division door, Badger Bob, 9-4, is starting to feel the heat. Playoff-wise they’re safe, but they’ll need a win to bolster their Grimson title chances. The Bluliners face an entirely different scenario, the 6-7 squad trailing the Probert division leader by three games. Currently, the Bluliners aren’t postseason material. To be considered postseason material, they have to win. Polar Bears: 0.0 Boulder Flyers: 2.4 Earlier in the season, the FHL News reported of teams playing “must-win” matches. At the time, that wasn’t necessarily true - the matches weren’t technically “must-win” (reported as such to increase ratings). Well folks, it’s true now, the Polar Bears and their horrific 3-10 mark have absolutely no room for another loss. For the Bears to have any hope of qualifying for the postseason, they have to win this match. The Boulder Flyers, 6-7, also need to win. LINK: Standings |
