Gabriel Landeskog earned the spotlight on an otherwise quiet Friday, the 28-year-old winger potting a goal, an assist and 3.0 of his team’s 5.0 points, the Lumberjacks now 7.6 points clear of the Cherry Pickers with two days remaining in the week.

Cherry Pickers: 26.7
Lumberjacks: 34.3­
The Lumberjacks only lead by 7.6 points, but with points at a premium in this low scoring affair, a 7.6 point lead could prove to be insurmountable; the Jacks feeling good about their chances as they prep for a games-saturated Saturday.

Wild Ducks: 43.5
Central Red Army: 26.9­
Neither team scored a point on Friday, thus - as Led Zeppelin would say - the score remains the same, the Central Red Army in need of a monster performance on Saturday as they still trail the Wild Ducks by 16.6 points.



There is only one game on Sunday (Wings vs. Lightning). There are 15(!) games on Saturday. As such, Saturday will go a very long way in deciding who is leading/winning whom/what. If there ever was a universal “Take a Deep Breath Head Between Your Knees Spit Out Your Gum Fasten Your Seatbelt” kinda day, this be the one.

The Battle for the FHL Cup
The Cherry Pickers only scored 1.7 points but they padded their lead by 1.7 points - the Wild Ducks completely whiffing on Friday; the Pickers 1st place lead now 12.8 points. The 3rd place Ice Hogs (0.0 points) also lost ground while the 4th place SC Cobras (0.0 points), well, they lost ground too. The Lumberjacks were one of the few teams to gain ground, the 5th place squad currently trailing the FHL Cup by 19.8 points.

The Bout for the Money
With five teams recording 0.0 points, there wasn’t much money-movement on a mostly silent four-game Friday. As such, in the interest of saving time, please refer to yesterday’s “The Bout for the Money” news.

The Scrap for the Laughing Bag
GM Morgan didn’t even have time to remove the moss before being shoved back into the basement, defenseman Cale Makar (1g, 1a) doing the shoving with a 6.0 point game - the Polar Bears returning to 11th place overall, their lead over the last place Boulder Flyers currently 1.8 points. Baba Booey was the league’s best team again, a 7.0 point Friday leaving the Booeys 34.9 points clear of the cellar.
