CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
PLAYOFFS PREVIEW - Championship Match and Consolation Match RVCnaO6 VS. PLAYOFFS PREVIEW - Championship Match and Consolation Match SmWGdrc

RECORD: Lumberjacks (10-6); Wild Ducks (12-4)
AT STAKE: A lot. The winner is crowned 2020-21 FHL Head-to-Head Champion and is awarded $120.00. The loser doesn’t get a trophy, nor a parade, but does skate away with $50.00 for their close-but-no-cigar effort.
H2H: As the championship match features the survivor of the Canuck division versus the survivor of the Yankee, this match marks the first time the two teams have met.
OVERVIEW: The Wild Ducks are in 2nd place overall. The Lumberjacks are seated in 4th place. Over the course of 16 weeks the Ducks have scored 786.2 points; an average of 49.1 points per week. The Lumberjacks are averaging 48.8 points per week; having scored a total of 781.0 points. As you would expect, very little separates the two teams. Intangibles: The Wild Ducks could be without the services of Alexander Ovechkin, while the Lumberjacks will be welcoming Mikko Rantanen back into the fold. That combination alone - especially if Ovechkin sits (or isn't 100%) - could tilt the match in the Jacks favor.

CONSOLATION MATCH

RECORD: Central Red Army (9-7); Cherry Pickers (11-5)
AT STAKE: Unlike the championship match, this is literally an all-or-nothing affair. The winner gets $30.00 for finishing as the 3rd best team in the tournament, while the loser - not counting a conciliatory pat on the back (and a shoulder shrug if the match is a blowout) - gets nothing.
H2H: As it is with the championship match, the two teams are meeting for the first time this season.
OVERVIEW: Points-wise, the Cherry Pickers are significantly better, the 1st place team averaging 49.9 points per week while the Central Red Army, in 8th place overall, have posted a per-week average of 45.6 points. The Cherry Pickers should win. Who will win? That question was asked of both matches last week, and Morganwigge - the FHL beat writer - was wrong on both counts. As such - in the interest of not embarrassing himself any further, he ain’t gonna say. Well, he will say, if you ask him on Sunday.
