PLAYOFFS PREVIEW - Round One Empty

PLAYOFFS PREVIEW - Round One Ez4w13c VS. PLAYOFFS PREVIEW - Round One QwhJscO

COMBATANTS: Baba Booey (12-10); Lumberjacks (12-10)
AT STAKE: The winner advances to the playoff semifinals and will remain in the hunt for the coveted FHL H2H Championship and it’s $120.00 prize. The loser will be shown the door - won’t win any money, no consolation prize, no pat on the back - won’t have a damn thing to show for 22 weeks of regular season hockey.
H2H: The two teams locked horns in Weeks 6 and 17. Baba Booey crushed the Lumberjacks in their first meeting, 63.9 to 28.4. The Booeys weren’t playing as well in Week 17, but they still dumped the Jacks, winning 47.1 to 33.6.
OVERVIEW: Baba Booey, seeded 4th, have hovered near the top of the standings for most of the year, scoring an average of 50.5 points per week. The Lumberjacks, the No. 5 seed, have been loitering near the basement for most of the season, scoring an average of just 44.9 points per week. On paper the Lumberjacks don’t have much of a chance. Off paper, the Lumberjacks also don’t have much of a chance.

COMBATANTS: SC Cobras (12-10); Boulder Flyers (12-10)
AT STAKE: See above.
H2H: The SC Cobras and Boulder Flyers played in Weeks 4 and 15. The Boulder Flyers won both matches, prevailing in the first, 70.6 to 63.7; and the second, 50.2 to 32.1.
OVERVIEW: The Boulder Flyers, seeded 3rd, begin play as the best overall team in the league. The 6th seeded SC Cobras - after posting the league’s lowest score in Week 22 - are just one step from the FHL basement. Of all seven playoff qualifiers, the Cobras have the lowest points per week average (44.0). The Flyers are averaging a league-best 52.0 points per week. If the SC Cobras were to defeat the Boulder Flyers, the upset would rival that of Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson and, dare I say, Ralph Macchio kicking that dude’s ass in Karate Kid.

COMBATANTS: Wild Ducks (11-11); Misconducts (13-9)
AT STAKE: See way above.
H2H: The Wild Ducks and Misconducts played each other in Weeks 8 and 19. The Ducks crushed the Misconducts in their first meeting, winning 80.7 to 53.6. The Misconducts returned the favor in their second encounter, winning 60.1 to 51.3.
OVERVIEW: As the No. 2 seed, the Misconducts should be paired with a patsy - using Round One to work out any kinks in their game. Unfortunately for GM Smalley, his Misconducts are paired with arguably the most explosive team in the league - the Wild Ducks (seeded 7th) having scored an average of 51.5 points per week (the Misconducts have averaged just 46.2). When it comes to drawing straws, the Misconducts grabbed the short one - and likely, a short stay in the postseason.

______________________

NOTE: For finishing with the best H2H record, the Cherry Pickers received a first round bye. In Round 2 - the Semifinal round - the No. 1 seeded Pickers will play the lowest seeded team.

Prize money is awarded to three teams: H2H champion, runner-up and the winner of the consolation match.

PRIZE MONEY
1st place: $120.00
2nd place: $50.00
3rd place: $20.00
