"What a difference a year makes" is a common saying but it doesn't apply to the Polar Bears. This time last year GM Elya's Bears were again contending for the FHL Cup, doing battle with the eventual champion Bluliners.
One year ago the news was proclaiming "Cats on Rise" after the Ice Cats exploded for 67.4 points. GM Cutshall's Cats would eventually finish in 4th place.
This time last year the Redliners were in last place, trailing by 165.7. They finished the season in last place; 326.8 back.
At the Christmas break last year the Bluliners were in first place; a lead they would not relinquish. Christmastime 2014 finds the Bluliners in danger of finishing dead last for the first time in franchise history.
Providing hope for teams currently buried in the standings, the Boulder Flyers were floundering in 7th place on December 26, 2013, trailing by 87.4. The Flyers would eventually finish in 2nd place, falling to the Bluliners by just 17.4.
