WEEK 18 (thru Thursday) BFrFLfv
Seeking help for the final week of the season, GM Recoskie signed Jordan Kyrou to a provisional ten-day contract. Kyrou didn’t disappoint as the unheralded 23-year-old netted two goals and 4.0 of his team’s 11.0 points; the Lumberjacks - seemingly out of nowhere - vaulting into 1st place overall; the Jacks - in their very first year in the league - now in position to win $600.00 and the coveted 2020-21 FHL Cup.

The Battle for the FHL Cup
With Sean Monahan done for the season, the Ice Hogs won’t fully benefit from Calgary’s four make-up games - the hobbled Hogs limping awkwardly to the finish line, the shorthanded team dispatched to 2nd place overall (4.0 points back) after netting only 2.0 points on Thursday.

On Wednesday - trailing by only 4.3 points and with a Connor McDavid start loaded - the Wild Ducks appeared poised to commandeer the overall lead. After play on Thursday (six players recording 0.0 points) the dangling Ducks find themselves in 3rd place overall, 8.3 points back.

Rocky Rocks was the best team of Thursday as David Perron (2g, 1a) powered the Rocks to a 15.0 point showing (and 4th place overall) the second-year franchise drawing to within 10.2 points of 1st place.

What happened to the Cherry Pickers?

In 1st place from March 18th through May 4th - a total of 48 days - the Cherry Pickers now find themselves in 5th place overall; a spot that will yield nothing in the form of American currency. The Pickers are not without hope however. Despite his team’s lot in the overall standings, GM Recoskie sits only 10.9 points behind his annoying 1st place brother.

The Bout for the Money
With five teams within 10.9 points of each other, the “Battle for the FHL Cup” and “The Bout for the Money” are practically the same - the Jacks, Hogs, Ducks, Rocks and Pickers all with a very real shot at the Cup, the money, and nothing.

The Misconducts have made a valiant run at the money but time is no longer on their side, the team now seated 19.8 points outside of 3rd place with probably not enough starts remaining in the season.

The SC Cobras money-hopes were put to bed after a quiet 1.7 point performance, GM Murphy’s squad to finish the season as a penniless middle-of-the-packer.

The Scrap for the Laughing Bag
If anyone gave a crap about the worst teams in the league - the TV ratings for the Laughing Bag chase would be as high as the ratings for the battle for the FHL Cup. On Thursday, Matthew Tkachuk (1g, 1a) and Elias Lindholm (1g, 1a) combined for 6.0 of their team’s 13.0 points - the dead-last Polar Bears closing to within 8.3 points of the 11th place Booeys - both Baba Booey and the Boulder Flyers (9.1 points better than the Bears) in danger of being strapped with the FHL booby prize.
