| The Ice Hogs are benefiting from a colossal number of points from the blueline, veteran defenseman Alex Martinez (left) responsible for the latest haul with a two goal, 9.0 point effort; the hightailing Hogs moving into 3rd place overall - and to within 36.5 points of 1st place with their Monday-best 17.0 point performance.Ice Hogs: 17.0 SC Cobras: 9.7 The SC Cobras, 4-8, can no longer qualify for the playoffs. The team however will be bringing their very best game to Week 13, the Cobras currently seated just 47.3 points in back of 3rd place and it’s $150.00 prize. The Ice Hogs, 6-6, are hoping the motivated Cobras don’t interfere with their postseason plans, the Hogs in dire need of a win as they currently sit outside of the playoffs, trailing the Yankee division and playoff-worthy Misconducts by one game. (Season series tied, 1-1) Polar Bears: 3.0 Central Red Army: 9.6 As a Spoiler, the greatest satisfaction comes from defeating a team that genuinely needs to win. That’s exactly what GM Elya has on his Week 13 plate as his Polar Bears, 4-8, roll into New Jersey to engage the Central Red Army. There are just three weeks remaining in the H2H regular season and the Army, 6-6, sit one game outside of the playoffs. If the Army loses, they could fall two games back with two weeks remaining - and then we’re dealing with tiebreakers, and chance, and luck and well, GM Buker and his Army want nothing to do with that. (Central Red Army leads season series, 2-0) Rocky Rocks: 3.0 Cherry Pickers: 6.0Rocky Rocks find themselves in the same position as the Army - the Rocks, 6-6, currently seated one game outside of the postseason. The Rocks however have been given a much taller order - the second-year franchise paired with the best team in the league; the Cherry Pickers, 10-2, and their 3-game lead already holding one of the two Canuck division playoff tickets. To succeed, GM Rocky is going to have to channel the very best version of Mr. Balboa (Rocky IV maybe) in order to pull off what would be a momentous upset win. (Season series tied, 1-1)Wild Ducks: 0.0 Misconducts: 8.1 And we have arrived at the Marquee Match of the Week, a battle of the two best Yankee division teams. The Wild Ducks, leading the division by 2 games, could conceivably lock a playoff spot with a victory. The Misconducts still have a shot at the Yankee crown as they would own the tiebreaker if they prevail. A loss however could push them to the edge of extinction as two teams trail by just one game. To have any chance at all, the Misconducts need to turn things around in a hurry, the once dominant franchise currently riding a two-match losing streak. (Season series tied, 1-1)Lumberjacks: 6.0 Bluliners: 9.1After winning last week, the fate of the Lumberjacks, 7-5, remains in their own hands - the Canuck division team sitting all alone in 2nd place. If the Jacks win their final three matches, they’ll skate in the postseason. If they lose, they’ll still be sitting, though not quite as pretty. The Bluliners, 5-7, are mathematically still alive. They’ll be mathematically dead if they lose. You don’t have to be good at math to understand the importance of this match. For the Bluliners, yes, this match is a “do-or-die” affair. (Season series tied, 1-1)Boulder Flyers: 6.0 Baba Booey: 5.0 Fortunately no fans are currently allowed in FHL arenas - which allows the league to save-face as absolutely no one would purchase a ticket to this bantamweight bout of 11th and 12th place teams. The situation is especially bleak for the Boulder Flyers as they can’t even play the role of “Spoiler” as there’s nothing to spoil. Baba Booey however still has a chance of ending the season with cash in hand, the first-year franchise trailing 3rd place and $150.00 by a not-out-of-the-question 67.6 points. (Baba Booey leads season series, 2-0)LINK: Standings |
