WEEK 8 (thru Monday) Empty

WEEK 8 (thru Monday) 3Zazj1V
Head-to-head opponents in Week 8, the SC Cobras and Ice Hogs both benefited from a five goal game from the Vegas Golden Knights - Max Pacioretty (2g, 1a) providing the fast-starting Hogs with 7.0 points while Mark Stone - who assisted on all five goals - carding 10.0 points for the also fast-starting Cobras.

Ice Hogs: 15.0
SC Cobras: 15.0

The SC Cobras travel to Troy, Michigan to take on the Ice Hogs. With a record of 2-5 - and coiled-up in last place in the Yankee - the SC Cobras have to win. The Ice Hogs, 4-3, have a little bit of breathing room, but not much. The overall standings suggest this should be a very tight affair - the Ice Hogs, after seven weeks, having scored just 0.9 more points than the Cobras.

Bluliners: 2.6
Lumberjacks: 10.4

By winning last week, the Bluliners, 5-2, moved to within one game of the Canuck division lead - the division-leading Cherry Pickers suddenly vulnerable after falling hard in Week 7. The Lumberjacks' position is a bit more precarious. A win would level their record at 4-4, and keep them in the playoff chase. With intradivision play only - and with “H2H record versus each other” the qualifying tiebreaker, a loss could/would prove to be crippling.

Boulder Flyers: 3.7
Baba Booey: 3.0

Fantasy: If the Boulder Flyers win all of their remaining matches they’ll finish 9-6. If everyone beats up on each other, a 9-6 team could qualify for the playoffs. Reality: the Flyers will be playing the role of spoiler for the remainder of the season - a role they will take to Ontario in Week 8; the Flyers paired with the win-needy Baba Booey - the Booeys beginning play with a not-playoff-worthy record of 3-4.

Rocky Rocks: 4.0
Cherry Pickers: 9.4

Rocky Rocks, 3-4, is currently two games behind the second and final playoff spot. While they wouldn’t typically be favored, the recent play of their opponent suggests the Rocks should win. Not only did the Cherry Pickers lose last week, GM Recoskie’s squad posted one of the lowest scores of the week. In light of their recent struggles, dare it be said, the Cherry’s are ripe for the <<sentence abbreviated as FHL guidelines prohibit the use of trite, overused clichés>>

Wild Ducks: 14.0
Misconducts: 4.0

A battle for Yankee supremacy as the Misconducts travel to Oakland County to do battle with the Wild Ducks. The Ducks are seated on top of the division with a record of 5-2. The Misconducts bring a 4-3 mark to the match. Most of the pressure is on the Misconducts. While a victory would return them to the division lead, a loss could - with two other teams sporting a 4-3 mark - place the 2019 H2H champion on the postseason sidelines.

Central Red Army: 5.0
Polar Bears: 1.0

The Central Red Army, 4-3, are only one game behind the Yankee division leader - the Army not only thinking playoffs, but also “Yankee division crown.” The Polar Bears, 2-5, are on the verge of postseason extinction. All very strange given the Polar Bears have scored more total points than the Army - and sit higher in the overall standings. As such, the Army have their hands full as they march into Week 8.
