WEEK 26 (FINAL) YBgYyKN
With two goals, three assists and 13.0 points, Nikita Kucherov put a huge exclamation mark at the end of his team’s three-week postseason performance, the SC Cobras - in resounding fashion - capturing the 2021-22 H2H Championship and its $120.00 prize; the Cobras defeating the Misconducts by 39.7 points.

If you put money on the SC Cobras to win the H2H Championship - considering the extremely long odds - you’re probably not reading this, instead, out and about - shopping for a second home maybe, or a few cars.

The Cobras - who were seated in 11th place overall at the beginning of the playoffs - defeated the league’s best team in the opening round, crushing the Boulder Flyers, 69.9 to 56.0. In the semifinals, the Cobras dumped the league’s best H2H team, defeating the Cherry Pickers, 48.6 to 40.7. The championship match - like the others - was no contest as the snakes thumped the Domi division champ, erasing the Misconducts, 149.2 to 109.5.

While injuries derailed their shot at the FHL Cup - notably an early-season injury to Nikita Kucherov, the 3rd player taken in the draft - the SC Cobras jelled just in time for the playoffs; the Cobras arguably one of the best teams in the league at seasons end.

For their extraordinary performance, GM Murphy and his Cobras were presented with the H2H crown and an oversized check for $120.00. The Misconducts skated away disappointed but they weren’t empty-handed, GM Smalley awarded $50.00 for this team’s second-best effort.

Consolation Match

The Lumberjacks made wholesale changes to their lineup at the beginning of the week and the moves paid off, the Jacks demolishing the Cherry Pickers to claim the $20.00 consolation match prize; defeating brother-Recoskie by 51.8 points, 143.4 to 91.6. Despite posting the best H2H record in the league - and receiving a first round bye - the Cherry Pickers could do nothing with the playoffs, the team departing the postseason with nothing to show for their lackluster effort.

WEEK 26 (FINAL) FUcWn1w
The guy with two last names has become a sharp pain in the side of the Boulder Flyers, Joel Eriksson Ek delivering yet another two goal, one assist, 7.0 point performance; Baba Booey and their 14.0 point Sunday skating to within 27.1 points of 1st place, the FHL Cup and $600.00.

The Battle for the FHL Cup
The “FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT” sign has been illuminated as the final week of the season is looking like it could see some turbulence (nail-biting too); the on-fire (as in, playing well) Booeys and the on-fire (as in burning) Flyers both gunning for the league’s top prize. Trailing the 1st place Flyers by 49.9 points, the Bluliners Cup-hopes have likely been tabled, the Original Six team now looking over their shoulder with the hope of hanging onto the spoils of 3rd place overall ($120.00).

The Bout for the Money
The Wild Ducks appeared poised to win the FHL Cup but an unprecedented number of injuries derailed the once mighty Ducks, the Titanic team - after hitting more than one iceberg - left looking for scraps; the 4th place Ducks trailing 3rd place money by 19.6 points. Despite playing well, the Central Red Army is running out of real estate; the team trailing a cash-back finish by 37.1 points. The final Best Week Bonus of the season belongs to the SC Cobras, the ridiculously-hot team netting a Sunday-best 20.0 points to claim the $10.00 prize; the Cobra’s 4th bonus of the season

The Scrap for the Laughing Bag
Only seven more days of having to write something in this space. If nothing comes to mind, tomorrow you might be seeing “Only six more days of having to write something in this space.”
