| Wednesday came and went, and again Chris Kreider (no relation to Frank Zappa) and his Silicon Valley Slashers were left holding nothing, the misfiring team now only 28.6 points removed from the FHL cellar. The Skirmish for the Laughing BagWith only 2.0 points scored thus far, the Silicon Valley Slashers are not only in danger of falling into the basement, they're also in danger of breaking the FHL record for fewest points scored in a week (11.0 points); a record held by two teams, the Puckers (1996-97) and Ice Pirates (1997-98). GM Morgan doesn't appear to be troubled by GM Murphy's troubles, his Laughing Bag-contending Flyers now only 9.9 points behind the sinking 10th place Slashers. The Battle for the FHL CupThe Wild Ducks and Ice Hogs continue to play musical chairs, the Hogs once again the best team in the league after potting 4.0 points on Wednesday. The Misconducts meanwhile continue to rock the week, another 8.0 points placing GM Smalley's in-form squad in front of the Bluliners, the 4th place team just 32.5 points from the top. Despite a no point Wednesday, the Central Red Army continue to hold the last money card, barely, GM Buker's 3rd place Army just 1.4 points better than the hard-charging Misconducts. Round One, H2H PlayoffsWild Ducks: 8.8 Bluliners: 13.0 The Wild Ducks have hit a dry patch but they're still in this first round playoff battle, the also struggling Bluliners recording no points on Wednesday, the heavily-favored Ducks just 4.2 points back. Central Red Army: 23.6 SC Cobras: 8.3 There are four days remaining in the week yet the Week 23 waitress is already bellowing "last call," point-hungry GM Murphy frantically trying to find "Brent Burns" on the menu, his underdog under-the-gun team still trailing by a lot. Ice Hogs: 20.0 Ice Cats: 16.4 The match that was projected to be the closest of the bunch is the closest of the bunch, the Ice Hogs leading the reengaged Ice Cats by 3.6 points. LINK: Standings |
