Three days into the week, all three long shots are winning their opening round match; the Lumberjacks the latest giant-killer to commandeer the lead; the 10th place Jacks - with 3.2 points on Wednesday - now 1.3 points better than the 4th place Booeys.

Round One, Playoffs

Baba Booey: 16.4
Lumberjacks: 17.7­
There is still plenty of hockey to be played but the Lumberjacks are thus far liking their position, the jacked-up Jacks proudly perched in the driver’s seat with four days remaining in the week.

Boulder Flyers: 16.0
SC Cobras: 23.8­
“Warning! This is Not a Drill!” alarms are blaring at Boulder Flyers Headquarters, the disoriented 1st place team once again losing ground to their 11th place opponent, the SC Cobras carrying a heavy 7.8 point lead to an also heavy nine-game Thursday.

Wild Ducks: 16.9
Misconducts: 22.6­
The Wild Ducks pushed back a bit on Wednesday - outscoring their opponent 6.9 points to 4.0 - but the 3rd place Ducks have plenty to overcome as they still trail the 8th place Misconducts by 5.7.



The Bluliners shoved the Wild Ducks out of 2nd place on Wednesday, Elias Pettersson (2g) placing GM Hamiton just one floor below the FHL Penthouse suite with 4.0 of his team’s league-best 11.0 points; the bolting Bluliners drawing to within 7.6 points of the 1st place Boulder Flyers.

The Battle for the FHL Cup
Close yesterday, the race for the league’s top prize even closer today; only 9.0 points now separating the top three teams. Baba Booey and the Cherry Pickers are well within range of the FHL Cup, but the camped contenders have yet to make the journey north.

The Bout for the Money
There wasn’t a lot of movement among the money contenders as the 4th place Booeys were held to just 1.0 point; the 5th place Cherry Pickers, 5.0; the 6th place Central Red Army, 1.0; the 7th place Polar Bears, not much either.

The Scrap for the Laughing Bag
With no scrap for the Laughing Bag, the league was preparing to post favorite recipes in this space (including a recipe for GM Morgan’s world famous grilled cheese sandwich) but lo and behold, Rocky Rocks uncorked 9.0 points; the unplugged franchise drawing to within 37.1 points of the 11th place SC Cobras.
