Misconduct Nicklas Backstrom did all he could for his trailing team on Friday, ripping two goals and one assist.POLAR BEARS: 46.8MISCONDUCTS: 46.2The Polar Bears scored just enough points on Friday to hold off the charging Misconducts as GM Elya's surging franchise won their fourth consecutive match. Now 8-16, the Bears still hope to exit the Gretzky division basement sometime in the next two weeks. In defeat, the slumping Misconducts fell two games below .500. With a record of 11-13, GM Smalley's franchise has been denied any chance of 2nd place Howe cash as they now trail the Boulder Flyers by four games with two weeks remaining in the season.
BLULINERS: 48.9THE CROSBY SHOW:40.1Don't look now but the Bluliners are still alive. By defeating the Crosby Show in this pivotal Belle Tire "Match of the Week," the Bluliners have climbed to within one game of 2nd place in the hotly contested Gretzky division. With two weeks remaining in the season, 2nd place money is officially up for grabs. Despite the loss, the Crosby Show, now 12-12 overall, are still in the driver's seat as they can seal the money-winning deal by defeating the Polar Bears in Week 25.
WILD DUCKS: 53.8MOOSES: 36.4The Wild Ducks are the Howe division champions - wrapping up the title by defeating the defending champion Mooses by a firm 17.4. The win, combined with an Ice Hogs loss, also left GM Collard (18-6) with the best head-to-head record in all the land. On the flip side, with the loss, the tumbling Mooses now have the worst record in all the land. To avoid being stuck with a "First to Worst" moniker, the 10th place overall Mooses must rally as they trail the 9th place Polar Bears by 15.0.
BOULDER FLYERS: 51.8ICE CATS: 43.4The Boulder Flyers wrapped up 2nd place in the Howe division by defeating their division rival Ice Cats by 8.4. GM Morgan will now turn his attention to 2nd place in the overall standings, a position he holds, barely, with the sun quickly setting on the 2008-09 campaign. The Ice Cats needed the win to remain in the hunt for a Howe payday, but couldn't deliver, falling to 11-13 with the loss. With the top five overall teams automatically placed in the prestigious Howe division next season, the 5th place (overall) Ice Cats still have a fight on their Howe hands as they lead the 6th place Bluliners by just 8.8.
SPIDERMEN: 37.6ICE HOGS: 32.3The Spidermen improved to 9-15 with the victory as GM Schriver's proud never-give-up franchise defeated the best of the Gretzky division by 5.3. The win kept the Spidermen one game in front of the charging Polar Bears in the race to stay out of the Gretzky division cellar. Meanwhile, the Ice Hogs were tagged with their second $3.00 penalty of the season. The injury-plagued franchise, now 17-7, may have finally run out of fuel as GM Henry's depleted squad fell 39.5 points behind the Misconducts in the race for 3rd place overall - the last spot that pays at the conclusion of the season.
