Typically optimistic, captain John Tavares (0g, 0a) is growing concerned about his team’s lackluster play, the Central Red Army - with no help from Tavares - scoring just 4.0 points on Wednesday, the muted Army trailing the Wild Ducks by 20.3 points with only four days remaining in the week.

The Wild Ducks weren’t especially good on Wednesday as eight players managed to score only 7.0 points, Connor McDavid again leading the team with three assists and 4.0 points. Despite the “meh” performance, the Ducks remain in full control of this semifinal battle - both teams gearing-up for what GM Buker hopes to be a table-turning ten-game Thursday.

Cherry Pickers: 15.0
Lumberjacks: 19.0­
This match is three days old and the Cherry Pickers and Lumberjacks have combined for just 34.0 points; both teams struggling at arguably the most important time of the year. While the lack of points is adversely affecting their lot in the overall standings (the Pickers 1st place lead reduced to 5.4 points; the Lumberjacks tumbling to 6th place overall) this semifinal match remains intriguing, the jammed Jacks leading the parked Pickers by 4.0.



The Ice Hogs bolted into 4th place on Wednesday, mighty Max Pacioretty (2g, 1a) depositing 7.0 of his team’s Wednesday-best 15.2 points, the Hogs now just 18.3 points in back of 1st place overall and, what would be, their 3rd FHL Cup championship.

The Battle for the FHL Cup
The battle for the FHL Cup has never been better as six teams are within 23.4 points of 1st place. The Ice Hogs weren’t the only team to leave a mark on Wednesday as the SC Cobras - backed by the play of Mark Stone (1g, 2a, 5pts) - moved to within 12.0 points of what would be their first championship. The Wild Ducks - in search of title No. 11 - trail the top spot by a mere 5.4 points.

The Bout for the Money
Typically the awarding of money has been more-or-less sorted by now. Not so this year as you can throw a very small blanket over six teams. The Misconducts - the 7th team - is also in the hunt for moola, GM Smalley’s squad - after an 11.0 point evening - trailing the $150 Cobras by only 34.2 points.

The Scrap for the Laughing Bag
Both the Boulder Flyers and Polar Bears were quiet (a.k.a. bad) on Wednesday - both teams posting just 1.0 point; the Flyers still 11.2 points clear of the FHL basement. Also quiet was Baba Booey (2.0 points), the 10th place team still in the Laughing Bag conversation as they stand just 39.1 steps from the cellar door.

Note: The Ice Hogs YTD total reflects (-1.0) as a Sean Couturier goal (2.0 points) on Tuesday was changed to an assist (1.0 point).
