The Cherry Pickers rallied on Sunday but were denied the best-week bonus by the defiant play of MacKenzie Weegar, the Polar Bears defenseman collecting two timely assists and 3.0 points; the in-form Bears claiming their second $10.00 prize by outpointing the Pickers by 0.7 points; 55.3 to 54.6.
Polar Bears: 55.3
Ice Hogs: 49.9
While GM Elya was barricading the door to prevent the Cherry Pickers from breaching their $10.00 fort, the Ice Hogs almost snuck in the back door, defenseman Jakob Chychrun ripping a rare 15.0 point hat trick - the Hogs closing the week with 49.9 points and an undeserved tick in the loss column. The Hogs playoff hopes also took a hit with the loss, the team seated one game in back of the postseason. The Bears improved to 4-8 with the upset win. Although the Bears can no longer qualify for the playoffs, the team does take pleasure in no longer having the worst record in the league.
Cherry Pickers: 54.6
Baba Booey: 37.5There appears to be no stopping Cherry Pickers. The Pickers have a vise-grip on the Canuck division crown as their league-best 10-2 record has provided them with a league-best 3 game lead. The Pickers overall situation is also on the ups, the second-year franchise heading into Week 13 of the 17 week FHL season with a 29.7 point lead. By losing, Baba Booey was removed from the postseason picture, GM Carling handed a set of golf clubs and a tee time - the Booey's to spend the postseason roaming the unmanicured grounds of FHL Meadows.
Central Red Army: 46.7
Misconducts: 37.3
The Misconducts once ruled the Yankee division - a berth in the postseason a virtual lock. An extended dry patch however has left the team sitting on the slippery slope of the playoff bubble, the Misconducts now 7-5 after losing again. The Central Red Army greatly improved their playoff chances by defeating their division rival, GM Buker skating into Week 13 of the 15 week H2H regular season with a record of 6-6; a mark that places the Army one game in back of both the Misconducts and the playoffs.
Lumberjacks: 46.2
Boulder Flyers: 33.1The Lumberjacks kept pace with the Cherry Pickers by causally brushing aside the Boulder Flyers, GM Recoskie’s squad now 7-5 on the season; a playoff-worthy record that places the team in 2nd place in the Canuck division, though only one game clear of GM Rocky and his playoff-hungry team. The Boulder Flyers once again own the worst record in the league, the lopsided loss leaving the team with a mark of 3-9, the Flyers a full 7 games in back of the Canuck-leading Pickers.
Wild Ducks: 52.1
SC Cobras: 28.3
The Wild Ducks have quietly risen to the top of the H2H charts, the team improving to 9-3 by thumping the SC Cobras. Rivaling the Cherry Pickers for the best record in the league, the Ducks have a virtual lock on the postseason as they now lead the fading Misconducts by 2 games. On life support at the start of the week, the SC Cobras playoff chances are now dead - the flatlining Cobras exiting Week 12 with the league’s lowest score and a disappointing record of 4-8.
Rocky Rocks: 43.3
Bluliners: 30.1
Rocky Rocks wasn’t especially good but fortunately for GM Rocky and his playoff chances, the Bluliners brought a Nerf gun to this Week 12 war - the Rocks cruising to an easy 13.2 point win; the second-year franchise, 6-6, still very much in the hunt for a playoff ticket as they trail the 2nd place Lumberjacks by a single game. The Bluliners are 5-7 on the season - a record that leaves the team in a dire situation, the Original Six franchise likely having to win the remainder of their games to have any chance of skating in the H2H postseason.
