While no one at FHL headquarters has ever seen the 2004 Norwegian film “Monster Thursday” - or even heard of the movie prior to this morning’s lap around the Internet - the film title does hint at what’s in store for the 12 FHL franchises - no fewer than 26 of the 31 NHL teams taking to the ice on Day 4.
Bluliners: 30.8 Vegas Vipers: 2.4 No team is in greater need of a monster Thursday than the Vegas Vipers, GM Miller’s sagging squad collecting just 2.4 points through the first three days of the week, a nothing Wednesday dropping the vacant Vipers 28.4 points in back of the blistering Bluliners.
Badger Bob: 10.4 Misconducts: 14.1 Hoping to right the ship after falling out of the money on Tuesday, Badger Bob received points from Phillip Danault (1g) and Tomas Tatar (1a), the 4th place Bobs now trailing the 9th place Misconducts by 3.7.
Cherry Pickers: 31.1 Polar Bears: 11.0 The Cherry Pickers were the most prolific team on Day 3 - GM Recoskie extracting 5.0 points from a quiet two-game Wednesday - the peddling Pickers now leading the plodding Polar Bears by 20.1 points.
Rocky Rocks: 12.0 Central Red Army: 20.2 Brayden Schenn (1a) provided the only point in this otherwise pointless contest - Rocky Rocks moving one step closer to the swung-and-missed Central Red Army, the Rocks deficit now 8.2 points with four days remaining in the week.
Ice Hogs: 21.8 SC Cobras: 19.0 The SC Cobras received a goal from Travis Konecny while the Ice Hogs were restricted to a Jonathan Toews assist, GM Murphy’s upset-minded Cobras drawing to within 2.8 points of the best H2H team in the league.
Boulder Flyers: 25.8 Wild Ducks: 31.7 Corey Crawford (32 save win) padded the Wild Ducks lead, the Boulder Flyers now 5.9 points in the red as they batten down the hatches in preparation for what could be a week-defining Thursday.
