Not that his Wild Ducks team needed the points, by Evgeni Malkin collected some anyway, netting 8.0 (2g, 2a) on Sunday.WILD DUCKS: 91.9BOULDER FLYERS: 69.9The Wild Ducks put a stamp on their 2009-10 season with a huge final day, pounding the Boulder Flyers by 22.0. The Howe division Ducks finished in 3rd place with a record of 13-12 - just short of head-to-head money. There is joy in Wildduckville however as GM Collard guided his team to yet another FHL championship - their league-best 6th FHL Cup (could be more, I lost count) and a lion's share of FHL prize money. The Howe division Boulder Flyers closed the year with a mark of 10-15; tied for last. The final day of the season however did bring a smile to the face of GM Morgan - a day in which the veteran owner defeated both the Misconducts and Bluliners in the heated race for third place (overall) cash.
ICE HOGS: 76.8MISCONDUCTS: 50.3The highly anticipated duel for the Howe division crown was a bust as the streaking Ice Hogs steamrolled the plodding Misconducts. With the win, the Hogs improved to 17-8 and will receive 34% of all transaction and penalty monies. GM Henry will also collect a bundle for finishing in 2nd place overall. It's mostly bad news for the Misconducts as their disappointing final week dropped them into 5th place overall - out of the money. GM Smalley however will collect Howe division cash (16% of all transaction and penalty monies) as his team's very respectable record of 16-9 was good enough for 2nd place.
ICE CATS: 57.1DREAM TEAM: 56.3The Ice Cats weren't great during the final week of the season, but they were good enough to defeat the Dream Team. With a record of 10-15, GM Cutshall's Cats will finish tied for last in the Howe. The Dream Team meanwhile - in their first FHL season - will return home with the Laughing Bag - the booby prize for finishing in last place overall. The news was unfortunately the same in the Gretzky division as GM Elya Jr.'s Dream Team also finished last; their record, 7-18.
MOOSES: 89.5BLULINERS: 62.8Too little too late for the Gretzky division Mooses, 14-11, as they blasted the Bluliners but still closed the season in 2nd place. GM McCormick however will grab Gretzky cash (16% of all transaction and penalty monies) for his runner-up finish. While the Bluliners, 15-10, are happy with their Gretzky division title (and 34% of all transaction and penalty monies) they remain disappointed with their Sunday as they slipped out of Top 3 money - passed by the Boulder Flyers on the final day.
CROSBY SHOW: 72.4POLAR BEARS: 60.5The Crosby Show won their final match but couldn't grab a share of the Gretzky money as the Mooses also won. As a result, the Crosby Show will close the year in third place with a record of 13-12. The Polar Bears will depart their second FHL season with a record of 10-15. They'll also depart empty-handed - thankfully - as they avoided the Laughing Bag by just 4.9 points.
