Cam Ward helped his Dream Team squad sidestep the $3.00 penalty, posting a 25 save win on Friday.POLAR BEARS: 61.2DREAM TEAM: 48.2The Polar Bears are off to an impressive start as the second year franchise have won their first match of the new season. One of the hottest teams at the tail end of last year, the retooled and wiser Polar Bears have loftier goals for the 2009-10 season, namely, the hoisting of the FHL Cup. The Dream Team meanwhile are struggling, however it's not all bad news for the first year team as the now Franzen-less franchise did manage to avoid the $3.00 penalty for having the week's lowest score.
WILD DUCKS: 71.4BOULDER FLYERS: 54.5The Wild Ducks had a miserable start but erased all wrongs with a monster Thursday. The huge day proved more than enough to bury the stunned Boulder Flyers as the defending champs have hit the ground running. The Boulder Flyers had in a win in this grasp before being blindsided by the Ducks. On Wednesday, GM Morgan was entertaining thoughts of what to do with the $3.00 victory cash. At the end of the day Friday, the Flyers were penniless and nursing their wounds.
BLULINERS: 55.0CROSBY SHOW: 52.3After blowing a sizable lead, the Bluliners were able to hang on just long enough to win this Gretzky division match. GM Hamilton has a lot of work to do however as the FHL veteran looks to fill a huge void left by the injury to Andrei Markov. The Crosby Show have stumbled early, falling to 0-1. The second year franchise however are nestled in 6th place overall - poised to pounce as the FHL enters it's second week.
ICE CATS: 75.0MISCONDUCTS: 44.7A tale of two teams here as the Ice Cats are the best team in the league; the Misconducts the worst. Everything came up roses for the Cats as GM Cutshall's veteran squad enjoyed a walk-in-the-park win over their division rival. The Misconducts endured an horrendous start last year. It's deja vu all over again as GM Smalley is once again the owner of the league's first $3.00 penalty and will, once again, have to dig himself out of a fairly large hole.
MOOSES: 50.8ICE HOGS: 48.3Neither team found the scoreboard on Friday. As a result the underdog Mooses held on to win this opening week non-divisional encounter with the Ice Hogs. After a horrible season last year, GM McCormick was hoping for a better start. He got it. Playing a team that struggled mightedly last year, GM Henry was also hoping for a win. He didn't get it.
