The Cherry Pickers are now a money team, Connor Hellebuyck (42 save, 8.4 point shutout) carrying the Pickers to the green pastures of 3rd place overall; last year’s runner up - with their Tuesday-best 21.0 point effort - moving to within 43.6 points of 1st place and their first-ever FHL Cup championship.Cherry Pickers: 23.0
Baba Booey: 15.0Baba Booey thought they were doing pretty good after scoring a commendable 13.0 points. GM Carling soon learned however that pretty good wasn’t good enough, the demoted 4th place Booeys now trailing the red(hot) Cherry’s by 8.0 points with five days remaining in the week.
Boulder Flyers: 13.4
Lumberjacks: 19.0
In 1st place overall, the Boulder Flyers - should they win - will receive a first round playoff bye; the Flyers owning the tiebreaker over all other 12-9 teams (Misconducts, Booeys, Cobras, Pickers). First however the Flyers must defeat the Lumberjacks; the step-back Jacks still on top despite carding a mere 4.0 points on Day 2.
Bluliners: 22.3
Polar Bears: 18.0
For the Polar Bears to have any shot at the playoffs, aside from winning this match, the Wild Ducks have to lose. The Bluliners own the tiebreaker with the Lumberjacks (the Polar Bears don’t), so the Jacks have to win (if the Bluliners also win). It’s a bit complicated but the common theme here is “must win” - something the Bluliners are currently doing as Adam Fox (1g, 1a) propelled the B’s to an 18.0 point evening and a 4.3 point lead.
SC Cobras: 13.2
Wild Ducks: 6.0All the pressure is on the Wild Ducks as both teams sharpen the skates in preparation for a
four-game Wednesday - the 2nd place Ducks, should they lose, to be rudely escorted to the playoffs exit. The SC Cobras are in, win-or-lose - the snakes currently leaning more towards the “win” part of the equation as they lead the waddling Ducks by 7.2.
Rocky Rocks: 14.0
Ice Hogs: 17.5The FHL couldn’t find a taker for their “buy one ticket at regular price and receive 17,893 tickets free” promotion, so the Pig Pen (ironically, the same arena that hosted last year’s FHL Cup celebration) is empty - the two teams performing for Larry the janitor and a woman reportedly named Louise - a plump topless gal who was last seen taking a joyride on the arena’s zamboni.
Central Red Army: 26.7
Misconducts: 6.9The Central Red Army were better than their opponent again, a 10.7 point evening providing GM Buker with a 19.8 point lead; the Army however falling 24.7 points behind 3rd place and its $120.00 prize. The Misconducts meanwhile - upon closer inspection - have no shot at a 1st round playoff bye. The Misconducts own the tiebreaker with the SC Cobras only. Playing each other, either the Pickers or Booey will finish with a mark of 13-9 - both teams a tiebreaker better than the Misconducts.
