Martin Jones has placed the Misconducts on the road that leads to the semifinals and a slice of the $200.00 playoff pie, the 29 year-old backstop perfect on Monday as he stopped 24 pucks en route to collecting 4.8 points - his 5th consecutive victory - the Misconducts leading their opening round scuffle by 3.8.First Round, PlayoffsCentral Red Army: 5.0
Misconducts: 8.8
The Misconducts were the quickest team out of the playoff gate as they collected 8.8 points. It’s far too early however to draw conclusions, the Central Red Army still close as they netted 5.0; the defending H2H champion poised to pounce ahead of a relatively light 8-game Tuesday.
Boulder Flyers: 2.4
Polar Bears: 4.0
The Boulder Flyers had a lot of players sitting at the points table on Monday but apparently few were hungry, the team nibbling on just 2.4. Thankfully for the birds and their chances of advancing, the Polar Bears weren't especially hungry either; GM Elya’s squad leading by just 1.6.
SC Cobras: 7.0
Ice Hogs: 6.6
The SC Cobras and Ice Hogs are separated by only 0.4 points after opening day, the final six days of the week to decide which team will advance to the Final Four; a destination that provides the combatants with a shot at the $110.00 prize for being crowned 2018-19 H2H Champion.
The Battle for the FHL CupTypically GM’s winning by close to 90.0 points - with only four weeks remaining in the season - are confident that they will ultimately reign supreme. That however is not the case in 2018-19; a year removed from the biggest comeback in FHL history. So while the Wild Ducks are feeling very good about their chances, they remain cautious, especially considering their 111.6 point lead was recently shaved to 89.3.
The Bout for the MoneyAside from the Wild Ducks, no team has a lock on a postseason payday as six teams are separated by just 51.1 points; the Polar Bears, Ice Hogs, Boulder Flyers, Misconducts, Vegas Vipers and Central Red Army all hoping to finish with a sizeable chunk of the $1,000.00 purse.
The Scrap for the Laughing BagWith only 27 days remaining in the season Badger Bob is not thinking “Will I win the Laughing Bag” but rather “On what shelf should I place the Laughing Bag,” the defending FHL Cup champion apparently destined to be smacked with a “First to Worst” label, the shuffling Bobs a distant 63.0 steps from ground level.
