THANK YOU MARIO for saving the Penguins in Pittsburgh as both a player and an owner.

You EARNED that statue!!!

# # #

Lemieux was responsible for MANY highlights over the course of his playing career. Hard to say what is my all-time favorite. But the one below, against the Minnesota North Stars in Game 2 of the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals, is in my top three.

Can't fault Minnesota goaltender Jon Casey. Or Minnesota D Shawn Chambers and Mark Tinordi. (Cameo appearance by Hall of Fame D Larry Murphy of the Penguins trailing Lemieux up the ice.)

I remembering seeing this goal live on TV. And YES, "BADGER" BOB JOHNSON was behind the Penguins' bench. GREAT memories.

Announcers on this version Dick Irvin and Harry Neale. So this would have been CBC???

PostSubject: GREAT Mike Lange-ism   Thu Dec 24, 2015 9:05 pm

Misconducts, THANK YOU for sharing a GREAT MIKE LANGE-ISM, sayings by long-time Penguins play-by-play announcer, currently on radio only, following Penguin goals.

The Lange-isms below usually followed: "HEEEEEE SHOOTS AND SCORES!"

"Scratch my back with a hacksaw" right there among my favorites along with:

"Get in the fast lane, Grandma, the bingo game is ready to roll"

"Great balls of fire" (the original Lange-ism that I remember hearing)

"Call Arnold Slick from Turtle Creek" (pronounced "Crick" to rhyme with Slick)

"Oh what a move. He put (fill in name of opposing defenseman and/or goaltender) on the parkway heading to the airport"

"He beat (fill in name of goaltender) like a rented mule"

Lange was voted the winner of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award in 2001. Induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a broadcaster comes with it.

Here is a video that lists some of the top Mike Lange-isms.
