WEEK 18 (FINAL) Empty
PostSubject: WEEK 18 (FINAL)   WEEK 18 (FINAL) EmptySun Feb 09, 2014 12:33 pm

WEEK 18 (FINAL) Ain2
With the help of 10 points from 18 year-old Nathan MacKinnon, the Boulder Flyers won their sixth consecutive match.

Boulder Flyers: 67.3WEEK 18 (FINAL) Cq96
Polar Bears: 48.7
Misconducts: 48.3

• After the 12th week of the season the Boulder Flyers were 4-8 and sat 87.4 rows behind the first place Bluliners. Flash ahead six weeks. Heading into the Olympic break the resurrected Flyers are 10-8 and are now the sole owner of first place in the H2H2H standings; a position that pays $25.00 at the conclusion of the season. The Flyers occupy 2nd place in the overall standings; 24.2 shy of what would be their third FHL Cup.
• The Polar Bears again tasted defeat, falling to 4-14 for the season. More alarming, the Bears notched 23.9 fewer points than the first place Bluliners, dropping GM Elya’s team even deeper into 3rd place, their deficit now 29.4. Unlike the streaking Flyers who are loathing the Olympic break, the rest could provide the Bears with time to refocus and gear-up for a run at what would be their first FHL championship.
• A loss has leveled the Misconducts record at 9-9, pushing GM Smalley’s team into the second slot in the H2H2H standings, tied with the Bluliners. In the marquee race - the race for the elusive FHL Cup - the two-time champion Misconducts are in 4th place, trailing the Bluliners by a still manageable 54.9.

Bluliners: 72.6WEEK 18 (FINAL) Cq96
Dream Team: 52.8
Ice Hogs: 35.7

• The Bluliners have appeared soft at times during the season - ripe for the picking in the eyes of many of the GM’s. What the rest of the league now knows: the Bluliners bend, they do not break. Week 18 is proof positive; a performance that lead the league and padded GM Hamilton's overall numbers - numbers that have provided the Bluliners with a 24.2 cushion in the chase for the FHL's top prize.
• The Dream Team lost again, stumbling to 3-15. They did however post a very respectable 52.8. Remarkable numbers considering the team has been operating on cruise control for most of the season.
• The Ice Hogs camp has been quiet in recent weeks; not performing badly enough to garner attention; not scoring enough points to raise any eyebrows. The Hogs shot at what would a third FHL Cup is practically nil as they trail by 126.6; their chance of winning money (3rd place) now 97.2 points in the distance.

Ice Cats: 66.2WEEK 18 (FINAL) Cq96
Redliners: 42.2
Wild Ducks: 39.2

• The Ice Cats will be a team to watch during the final weeks of the season; a solid 66.2 effort pulling GM Cutshall to within 61.4 of a third place and a season-ending $100.00 payday. The seasoned franchise has yet to win the FHL Cup. To hoist their first, the Cats have seven weeks to pass four teams and gain 90.4 on the first place Bluliners. Not a recommended bet but stranger things have happened.
• The Redliners primary goal in the remaining weeks of the season: vacate the FHL basement; a position that is dishonored with the awarding of the FHL Laughing Bag. To remove themselves from the cellar the Redliners will have to reel-in the Wild Ducks, a team that has scored 42.7 more points than GM Megan’s Reds.
• Hoping to enter the Olympic break on a high note, the Wild Ducks were saddled with the second lowest score of the week; numbers that are difficult to swallow for the seven-time FHL Champion. GM Collard has pulled every string with the hope of kick-starting his team, to no avail. With no chance of finishing in the money, it’s probably time for GM Collard to flip Lady Luck the bird and start planning for next year.
